Enhance old photos without confusing it with upscaling
Use faithful cleanup for softer family photos, or a stronger AI reconstruction pass when you accept that generated face detail may change identity.
Old Photo Enhancer
Clean up older photos with a mode that matches how much change you are willing to accept.
Best for light to moderate blur, compression, and grain
This is not a guarantee for severe damage, extreme out-of-focus photos, missing facial detail, or accurate face reconstruction.

Two modes for two different expectations
Old photos need clearer choices than one generic upscale button.
Faithful cleanup
Best when you want a result close to the original with light deblur, sharpening, and less visible softness.
AI reconstruction
A stronger pass for old or compressed photos, but generated face details can look different from the real person.
Honest limits
Works best for light to moderate blur, compression, and grain. It does not guarantee severe damage repair, severe out-of-focus recovery, or accurate face reconstruction.
Separate credit pricing
The page shows credits by mode before the job starts, so enhancement is not hidden inside the normal image upscaler.
How the old photo workflow runs
Upload a source photo, choose the right level of change, then review the output before using it elsewhere.
- Step 1
Upload the best source
Use the highest-quality scan or phone capture you have. More source detail gives the model more to preserve.
- Step 2
Choose cleanup or reconstruction
Pick faithful cleanup for safer identity preservation, or reconstruction when clarity matters more than strict accuracy.
- Step 3
Review faces and hands
AI can invent plausible details. Check the result before sharing it as a family record.
- Step 4
Download the result
Save the output or run a normal upscaler afterward if you need a larger print file.
Before you run it
The enhancer cannot recover detail that is completely missing from the source image.
For relatives and historical photos, review reconstructed faces carefully before treating them as accurate.
If enhancement is not the right fit for a purchased credit pack, support can still handle the refund route.
Old photo enhancer FAQ
Short answers that keep enhancement separate from image upscaling.
How is this different from the image upscaler?
The image upscaler mainly enlarges pixels. This page is for old-photo cleanup and reconstruction, with clearer warnings about blur, grain, and identity changes.
Can it perfectly restore faces?
No. It can sharpen or reconstruct plausible detail, but it does not guarantee accurate face reconstruction, especially when the original face is very small, blurred, or damaged.
Does it colorize black-and-white photos?
Not in this first version. Colorization should stay as a separate workflow because it changes the image in a different way.
What if I bought credits for the wrong tool?
Contact support. We can check your account, try the right workflow when appropriate, or handle a refund for unused credits.
