Try the online upscaler

A product photo that looks fine in a thumbnail can fall apart the moment a shopper zooms in. Marketplaces enable zoom at a minimum image size and reward larger, sharper files with better placement in search and detail views. If your product shots came from an older camera or a quick phone session, an upscale pass is the fastest way to make them zoom-ready — provided you start from a decent photo.

Why product photo resolution matters

Zoom is the main reason to care. Several major marketplaces only activate the zoom feature above a minimum pixel count, and images below their guidelines can be rejected outright or displayed small. Requirements change per platform and category, so check your marketplace's current image rules before planning a batch. As a general practice, aim for the longest side to be comfortably above the zoom threshold — commonly 1600px or more — and keep file sizes inside the platform's upload limits.

Shoot for the upscale

Upscaling multiplies what the camera captured. It cannot add texture that was never there, so the best batch starts with the best source:

  • Use even, diffused lighting to avoid deep shadows
  • Put the camera on a tripod or rest it on a surface
  • Shoot at the camera's highest resolution, never digital zoom
  • Keep the product in sharp focus — slight blur becomes obvious at 2K

Reshoot the worst images instead of trying to rescue them. One reshoot costs time; a batch of weak upscales costs credits and a listing that still looks soft.

Step 1: Check current dimensions

Drop your files into the free resolution check. It reads width and height locally — nothing is uploaded — and shows the next sensible target. Sort your photos into two groups: files within roughly 1.5x of the target (good upscale candidates) and files that need a big jump (check whether a reshoot is smarter).

Step 2: Upscale to 2K for listing cards

For most catalog photos, 2K is the right target and costs 10 credits per image:

  1. Open the image upscaler
  2. Upload the photo (JPEG, PNG, and WebP are accepted)
  3. Select 2K
  4. Confirm the 10-credit cost in the preflight and submit
  5. Download and compare at 100% zoom

A 2K file covers listing cards, gallery thumbnails, and zoom views on most platforms, and it keeps batch costs predictable: 10 photos at 2K is 100 credits.

Step 3: Use 4K for hero and lifestyle banners

Hero banners and full-width lifestyle shots get stretched further, so a 4K pass (16 credits per image) makes sense for the handful of images that carry the most visual weight. Keep it selective — a 50-SKU catalog does not need every angle in 4K.

If your product shots are technically weak rather than small — soft focus, heavy grain, old compression damage — run them through photo enhance instead. Faithful mode (150 credits, JPEG output) sharpens while staying true to the original; Reconstruction mode (90 credits, PNG output) attempts deeper repair on degraded files. Photo enhance accepts up to 10 files per batch.

Step 4: Batch smart, then verify

Batch strategy for a full catalog:

  1. Run the free first 2K on one representative photo to check quality
  2. Queue the rest at 2K in small groups so a bad file does not stall everything
  3. Keep backgrounds and lighting consistent across a batch — the upscaler will not unify mismatched shots
  4. Spot-check every output at 100% zoom before uploading to the marketplace

New accounts get one free first image upscale at 2K, and guests can preview results at 720px before unlocking. Current credit packs are on the pricing page.

Before you publish

Verify the finished files against your marketplace's current rules — dimensions, file size, and format — and test the zoom view on a live listing. A sharp 2K image that passes the platform's checks outperforms a 4K file that gets downscaled or rejected.

The fastest path is: check dimensions, fix the truly bad shots with a reshoot, upscale the rest to 2K, and reserve 4K for heroes. Start with the image upscaler — the preflight shows the exact credits before anything runs.
